1975/76 now complete in database

I said I was going to have a real go and get previous results onto the site and here is the first step. Some background changes kindly undertaken by tech wizard Neil Studd have seen the way things add up behind all the details quicken up and we he has also fixed the issue that lead to many players showing only part or no details from time to do. He is a genius!

Ok, so 1975/76 has now been completed. Not the greatest year we ever had but there were some good parts to it.

An eleven match run in the FA Trophy saw us reach the second round where we came unstuck in a replay at Morecambe, the highlight of this run for me was the three games we played again Bethesda Athletic in the Preliminary Round. Not for anything but I get slightly excited when I see the words ‘Second Replay’, a term which is now extinct. Also, Bethesda Athletic is a great name!

It was the season that saw a debut for our greatest appearance holder, Steve Johnson, who played a small role that season. His big brother Jeff however was top scorer with 37 goals and also topped the most appearances with a massive 62 (at least, there are a few line up gaps).

It was also a good season for local derbies. We played Stalybridge Celtic seven times this season, winning only twice!, Droylsden six times and Ashton United four times.

We did also manage some silverware, winning the Reporter Cup.
