Maine Road started well with Otutu firing a left wing cross over the bar. A blow for Hyde came on 13 minutes when Paul Richardson was stretchered off following a clash of heads. From a Dolby free kick, Prince Moncrieffe headed wide before a lucky escape when Hall fired across the face of the goal but no-one could finish off the chance for maine Road. Gus Wilson gave Morrey a problem when he volleyed from 35 yards but the keeper dealt with it at the second attempt. Shortly before the break Morrey again saved, this time from a close range Brenchley header. Hyde took the lead on 57 minutes when Simon Yeo met with Dolby's cross to glance a header into the far corner. Yeo was again close when he headed over following Moncrieffe's cross. Yeo got clear of Maine Road's defence and rounded the keeper but from a tight angle the best he could do was hit the post. Injury time saw a Dolby free kick clear the top corner by inches and while Maine Road upped the tempo, The Tigers never looked in any trouble. Played at Boundary Park, Oldham. |
