Match Details: Tuesday 16th March 1999 Manchester Premier Cup Semi-Final
Attendance: 445 Glossop North End: Not available Hyde started the game looking for an early goal and Moncrieffe went close after Dolby played him through but he shot over from a tight angle. Glossop keeper Merrick raced to clear a through ball but only found the head of Yeo but his long ranger header was cleared. The Tigers took the lead on 11 minutes when a through ball by Hall wasn't collected by Merrick and the ball dropped at the feet of Lloyd Richardson who scored his first goal for Hyde. Tony Rodwell curled a pass around the defence on 13 minutes and Chris Dolby lobbed the goalkeeper from 18 yards. On 30 minutes, Lloyd Richardson crossed from the right and Chris Dolby's mis-hit shot managed to squeeze underneath Merrick. The goal spree never happened in the second half although there were a number of missed chances. Prince Moncrieffe hit a power shot from 20 yards which Merrick grasped at the second attempt and then Glossop went close with O'Connell hit a shot just wide of the post. A Kojoe Taylor cross eluded everyone before hitting the post and bouncing to safety. Dave Ringland almost scored an amazing own goal but Merrick managed to push he header round the post. Prince Moncrieffe then rounded Merrick but let the ball run away from him. Glossop scored a good free-kick consolation goal in the last minute which made a comfortable victory look a bit closer than it actually was. Glossop scorer unknown (sorry!) |
