Match Details: Friday 4th December 1998 Northern Premier League Premier Division
Attendance: 287 Leigh RMI: Not available Simon Yeo, called back from his loan at Atherton Collieries started brightly by taking on two defenders but then blazing over the bar. He soon made up for that when on 13 minutes he glanced home Richard Annan's left wing cross to put the tigers one up. Darren Washington got to the byline and pulled the ball back for Moncrieffe who sliced his shot when he should have scored. Jon Scargill failed to collect a cross, leaving it to his defence, but the ball on found a Leigh player who placed the ball into the bottom right hand of the goal. Keith Evans then had the chance to put RMI 2-1 up but he headed over when unmarked. Simon Yeo scored a wonderful goal on 87 minutes and it seemed as though Hyde would walk away with the three points, that was until the sixth minute of injury time when Leigh bundled in an equaliser. This despite only one injury in the half and it came as no surprise that the referee blew for time with the goal net still rippling! |
