Match Details: Saturday 7th September 2019 F.A. Cup 1st Qualifying Round
Attendance: 551 Morpeth Town: Lowson Forster Turner Phillips J Henderson Thackray Taylor Hodgson L Henderson Reid Potter Subs: Mohammed McKeown Giles Ward Wilson Hyde exited the FA Cup at the first hurdle, falling to a 3-1 defeat at Craik Park. The tigers never really got going at all in the game, which made the result all the more hurtful, given the magnitude of the game. Morpeth were on the front foot from the off with a couple of chances for Taylor and Henderson, but they went wide of goal. It wasn’t long before they did take the lead when a pass back by Gooda was intercepted by Liam Henderson, the number 9 making no mistake in slotting the ball in past Mewitt. Hyde managed to go into the break only a goal down, looking to then make amends in the second half. However, it didn’t happen as hoped when Morpeth managed to get their second 10 minutes into the half after Thackray got the final touch, the referee agreeing the ball had crossed the line. Any hopes of a keeping the tie alive vanished with an hour on the clock when Taylor got his head onto a Henderson cross at the far post. The tigers did manage to get on the scoresheet with 15 minutes remaining when Tongue’s clever free kick was played towards to front post and put into the net by a Morpeth player, but that was all the tigers could manage in a disappointing showing in the FA Cup.
