Two from Liam Tongue and one each from Paddy Lane and Dan Turner sealed a fairly comfortable victory at Ewen Fields. The game was fairly end to end to open, with both teams having chances on the break, but none really troubling either goalkeeper. Hyde opened the scoring when Tongue pressed high and won the ball, finding Lane who skipped past several players and slotted past Latham. It was two before half time when Tongue got himself a goal to add to his assist when he started and finished a move, linking up well with Turner before finding the goal. Hyde’s momentum was holted in the early goings of the second half when injuries to Logan and Thompson forced substitutions and allowed Glossop to gain a foothold into the game. They got onto the scoresheet when Ahmadi rose highest to a Samassa cross, heading into the bottom corner. But, the tigers restored their 2 goal lead within a matter of minutes as Tongue added to his tally when he fired home a corner at the second attempt inside the area. The visitors were reduced to 10 men shortly near the end when Samassa received his marching orders for a challenge on Benns inside the centre circle. Hyde finished the game 4-1 winners when Turner held the ball up well, beating Matthews, turning and finishing to continue his recent scoring form. By George Rothwell |
